Each member of the executive committee was nominated by their peers and has exemplified the commitment and engagement necessary to help lead the SSIA towards success.

Board Of Directors

Christian Crute, Managing Partner of SportsLink

Christian was the principal of InterLink and now is the managing partner of SportsLink. Christian not only runs a Sports and Social organization, he's a client as well, playing weekly in Sportslink's coed soccer, ultimate frisbee, competitive volleyball and floor hockey leagues. Beyond work and play, Christian is on the Mecklenburg County Athletics Advisory Council as well as involved with organizing activity based fundraisers for Hands on Charlotte, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Habitat for Humanity. Christian is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double major in Sociology and Political Science. Currently, he is (very slowly) working on a Masters of Entrepreneurship at Western Carolina University.

Tim Horan, CEO & Co-owner of Philadelphia Sport & Social

A sports industry veteran, Tim began his career with the PSSC as a part-time referee, umpire, and league manager in 1998 and was named Director in September 2004. Tim received his B.A. in Communications with a concentration in Sports Event Management from John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH in 1991. Prior to joining the PSSC, Tim worked in the sports business as a sports reporter, sports equipment sales rep, baseball umpire and coach.

Jason Erkes, President of Chicago Sport & Social

Jason has worked in the Sport and Social Club industry for nearly 11 years growing the Chicago market to over 5,100 teams and helping develop other markets across the country. Jason primarily focuses his efforts on corporate partnerships and finding creative ways to steer this industry in new directions. He also partnered with Canada’s City Chase Urban Adventure Series, launching it in Chicago and then expanding to nearly a dozen US Cities. In addition to CSSC, Jason is very politically active and was an Emmy Award-Winning television news producer. He also serves on the executive board of Special Olympics Chicago.

Steve Stoloff, CEO of VAVi Sport & Social

Prior to his involvement in VAVi, Steve was the Vice President of Strategic Planning at RealAge where he oversaw business planning, business development, and product management. Steve has a passion for internet marketing, and has been a panelist at the San Diego Ad Club and a guest of UCSD Extension's Marketing with New Media class. He also actively contributes to CONNECT's Springboard program for entrepreneurs. Steve graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Shawn D. Madden, Founder & Ambassador of Fun of Underdog Sports Leagues

Shawn has been with the company since its founding in February of 2001 and has overseen the growth of the Seattle branch in addition to the e-commerce division, corporate leagues division, and the launching of recent companies League Lab Inc. and Underdog Franchising Inc.

Advisory Council

Sharon Brigham, General Manager of Boston Ski & Sports Club

Brigham has been BSSC’s General Manager since 2002. Prior to joining Boston Ski & Sports Club, Brigham was a Human Resources Manager for Cascade General, Director of Operations for Harcourt Publishers, Department Manager for Little, Brown & Company Publishers, and a Supervisor in her local Parks & Rec organization. Brigham holds an MBA degree from Boston University and a BA degree from the College of the Holy Cross. She participates in many of BSSC’s sports, including football, skiing and her favorite, volleyball.

Amy Short, Founder at NYC Social Sports Club

Marrying her extensive background in the live music business with her love of touching the lives of others in some small joyous way, Amy founded NYC Social Sports Club in 2004 to create a sense of community for young professionals in New York City. Amy takes care of business while staying true to the club's goal to put the social before the sport.

Steve Arsenault, Director of Miami Sports & Social Club

Born and bred in Boston! Steve graduated from UMASS in 95 with a degree in Marketing. After 1 too many snow storms he ventured South to Miami in 2001. Having a background in Marketing, he bounced around for awhile working as a project manager, marketing research associate and a web project manager before the big bust of 2001. Steve tried to join a social club here in Miami and after a while saw a severe lack of recreational outlets for young pro’s. And so the Miami Sports & Social Club was born. He's an avid player of all things not soccer, but the funny thing is soccer is his largest sport.

Stephanie Puertas, President and Owner of Stay & Play Social Club

Stephanie graduated in December 1985 from WMU and returned to the Oakland County area where she worked in sales for seven years (Ram Communications and Cintas Uniforms). In 1995 she was introduced to Detroit Sport & Social Club. She worked for the company until an unfortunate bankruptcy in 2001. Two days after the closing of DSSC, Stay & Play Social Club was opened.

Patrick Fosdick, Owner of Madison Sports & Social Club

Patrick graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2005 and has a background in insurance, financial services, and tax preparation. He started MSSC in 2010 with one flag football league and is working hard to expand the club's offerings. Outside of MSSC, Patrick does a lot of volunteer work for the Madison Area Growth Network, Madison's young professionals group. He also loves to work out and participates in a few of MSSC's leagues, including kickball, dodgeball, and ping pong.

Chris Giebner, Owner of Tampa Bay Club Sport

Chris is originally from Ohio and a graduate of University of Cincinnati in mechanical engineering & University of South Florida with masters in engineering management. He moved to Florida out of college to follow an engineering career. He met his wife Tracey playing with Tampa Bay Club Sport in 1997 and they bought the club in 2002. They both now work full time with the club.

Chris Hastings “Stix”, VP of Chicago Sport & Social

Chris Hastings has worked with the Chicago Sport and Social Club since beginning as an intern in 1997. Chris currently holds the position of Vice President and is a partner of Worldwide Sport and Social Club which includes the Chicago Sport and Social Club and Dallas Sport and Social Club. Chris has worked as a market manager for clubs in Chicago, Philadelphia, Orlando, San Francisco, Seattle and Dallas.

Latane Meade, President, VAVi Sport & Social

Latane grew up in Virginia Beach, VA. He attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and graduated with a double major in Finance and Marketing Information Systems. Latane spent 2 years in the Marketing & Sales department at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Washington, DC. After experiencing the corporate side of the business world, he moved out to San Diego in February 2003 where he took over the marketing department at VAVi. As of April 2007, Latane moved on to be the Director of Integrated Sales at The Active Network.

Executive Director

Galen Beers, SSIA Organizer and Marketing Manager at VAVi Sport & Social

Galen, from Baltimore, MD originally, is a recent MBA graduate from the Johnson School at Cornell University. He also received a bachelors degree from Cornell University in 2002 (Economics). Between these two adventures in academia he has been a professional lacrosse player in Boston, a primary school teacher in Manchester (UK) and a software/strategy consultant in the Northeast US region. He now resides in San Diego, works as Marketing Manager for VAVi and has built relationships with over 60 sport and social clubs nationwide. His goal is to build the knowledge and trust necessary to help businesses work together and enjoy the substantial benefits from collaboration and scale.
