SSIA Objectives:
Communication, Cultivation, Collaboration
Communication
The SSIA will work to be a facilitator of communication between its member clubs. The 2010 sport and social industry report showed that some businesses are performing substantially better than others in areas such as social event and sport league profitability. In order for businesses to learn from each other, a simple communication strategy will be established. Initially, the SSIA will utilize a manual process of working with businesses to setup meetings and consultative sessions. The future goal is to implement a technology based solution to facilitate regular and real time communication between member clubs. In addition, a newsletter will be distributed to member organizations that will communicate the "current events" of the sport and social business world.
Cultivation
The SSIA will concentrate on identifying ways for businesses to work together in order to benefit all contributing parties. This in turn, will improve the overall sport and social business climate. Cultivation initiatives will include a variety of different projects such as technology comparisons, to national industry sponsored social and sporting events. From the 2010 survey results, businesses stressed interest in the following areas:
- Sponsorship Generation
- Large Social Events
- National Sports Events
- Website Development
- Equipment/Apparel Cost Savings
- Insurance Cost Savings
- Technology/Mobile Applications
Collaboration
By providing ways for businesses to join forces and learn with and from each other, the SSIA will help grow the industry as a whole and allow successful businesses to capitalize on what they do well, while utilizing the SSIA for support in other areas. We plan to hold regular meetings to gather member clubs together physically and to publish reports that outline best practices to be communicated to members. These reports will be a way for members to benchmark their performance against the industry and tailor investments accordingly. The SSIA will also provide resources to help educate and develop members and to foster quality adult recreational programs, facilities and services for diverse populations. Finally, the SSIA will work to promote ethical, healthy and fun lifestyle choices.
