SSIA Ethics Grievance Form

Sport and Social Industry Association

GRIEVANCE POLICY AND PROCEDURE

Sport and Social Industry Association, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit corporation (hereinafter “SSIA”), respects your right as a registered member organization (hereinafter “Member”), member of the Board of Directors (hereinafter “Director”), or officer of SSIA (hereinafter “Officer”) to an orderly process whereby complaints, problems, concerns, and disputes with another Member, Director, and/or Officer and their decisions can be considered fairly and quickly. This policy applies only to members, directors, and officers, as all SSIA employees have a separate process for resolving matters related to their employment.

Every Member, Director, and Officer of SSIA has a right to file a grievance if they have a complaint, problem, concern, and/or dispute with another Member, Director, and/or Officer of SSIA, and the nature of the complaint, problem, concern, and/or dispute causes a direct adverse effect upon the aggrieved Member, Director, or Officer. Such matters must relate to SSIA’s Code of Ethics/Ethics Policy. Undisclosed complaints, problems, concerns, and disputes can eventually lead to a decay of the organization. Therefore, SSIA has established a formalized grievance policy and procedure. The intent of this process is to serve as a means to amicably resolve complaints, problems, concerns, and disputes among members, directors, and officers as quickly and fairly as possible. However, this process is not intended to settle competitive disputes, address normal market competition or to mediate personal issues outside of the direct scope of SSIA’s Code of Ethics/Ethics Policy. Additionally, this policy and procedure should not be interpreted by any Member, Director, and/or Officer as anything more than a method of resolving complaints, problems, concerns, and disputes before they negatively impact the entire organization.

SSIA encourages all member organizations, directors, and officers to informally try and resolve their complaint, problem, concern, and/or dispute directly with the other Member, Director, and/or Officer first prior to filing a grievance. However, if a Member, Director, or Officer is not able to resolve their complaint, problem, concern, and/or dispute directly on their own, or are unsatisfied with the outcome, then they may submit a formal written submission of their grievance with SSIA. Once a formal written submission of a grievance has been submitted by a Member, Director, or Officer, it will be formally reviewed by the Executive Committee/Board of Directors (hereinafter “Board”). The Board will review all formal written submissions of grievances in a timely manner and provide a written response to all parties involved. The Board’s written response will be final and will not be subject to further review or appeal within SSIA.

SSIA’s policy is to treat all members, directors, and officers in a fair and impartial manner. All formal written submissions of a grievance will be kept confidential. SSIA discourages gossip among or about members, directors, and officers. Additionally, there will be no retaliation of any kind against any Member, Director, and/or Officer for making a formal written submission of a grievance under this procedure. However, a Member, Director, and/or Officer may be disciplined or terminated for filing a false or frivolous grievance. If you have any questions about this policy or would like to file a grievance (see fields below), please contact SSIA’s Executive Director, Galen Beers at galen@ssia.us
